The same format as every website you've ever visited — but this one runs entirely on your computer instead of someone's server. You download it, double-click, and it opens in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge like any web page. Nothing installs. It's about 3 MB, smaller than a photo from your phone.
Yes. It's plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript — no installer, no executable, nothing that can touch the rest of your computer. Your antivirus will scan it and it'll pass. If you're technical, open it in a text editor and read every line.
Into your browser's local storage, on your own device. There's no cloud copy, because there's no cloud. We can't read your guest list, budget or vows — there's nowhere for us to read them from. The only thing that ever reaches us is a license key when you upgrade, so we can confirm the purchase.
Completely. Once it's downloaded you never need a connection again. Plan at the venue with no signal, on a plane, in a basement tasting room. Everything saves as you type.
Use Backup Data inside the app — it exports one small .json file. On the new machine, open Altar, hit Restore Backup, and everything's back in seconds, license included.
Not simultaneously — that would need a server, which is the one thing Altar deliberately doesn't have. In practice couples share the backup file, or keep the planner on one shared laptop. It's the honest trade-off for total privacy.
